Voro is a Mile End spot that has achieved the status of being both hip and local since opening in 2010. The high ceilings and modern design, not to mention the excellent location on Fairmont and Jeanne-Mance, are well suited to grab the attention of hungry patrons in the area. The casual, welcoming atmosphere and affordable, top-quality food make this a place to return to again and again.
Owner Jesse MacDonald had previous experience opening restaurants as a head chef, but Voro is the first one he is proud to own. When Jesse returned from Turks and Caicos where he ran the successful Lemon Café until 2008, the Montreal native took a year to create the perfect spot for his new enterprise. Along with his family, he undertook all the renovations and built a terrace. Drawing on his experience as an art director and graphic designer, Jesse made the decisions for the interior and personally selected the art. As chef, he designed the menu himself, described as “Phoenician” or “rustic Mediterranean” with Lebanese and Moroccan influences.
