Éric Denommée discovered cuisine by following in the footsteps of his father, who had a refrigeration company. First, he worked for a fast-food chain and then for a caterer before he enrolled in the Quebec Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHQ). He then headed out to renowned establishments yet nothing he did led him to believe he would one day become a pizza maker. "Every time I made a cake or dough, it never rose," Eric laughs.
One day, however, he accepted the challenge of starting a business with two partners, Paolo Oliviera and Didier Housseaux, and mastering the art of making pizza. "I knew he had what it takes!" assures Paolo, who had never owned a pizzeria, despite his experience in the restaurant industry. Eric was nervous at first but the success of Pizzeria Melrose is proof that he does have what it takes even though he is convinced that he owes part of his success to his mother, who prayed for him.
Adorable pizzeria sur la rue Sherbrooke. Le style est chic et simple. Bon choix de pizzas, toutes délicieuses. Personnel sympa. Et quand le patron est là, il peut mettre une sacrée ambiance en fin de soirée ! Dernière innovation du resto : ouverture d'un coin galerie d'art au fond du resto, avec des expos changeantes. Quelle bonne idée !
Nice restaurant, wonderful atmosphere, very relax and friendly staff, open concept. The entrees and pizzas are mouth-watering. I have to recommend the "Carbeau" and " NDG " as two of my favorite pizzas. The chef/owner has a great smile, wonderful personality, very friendly and approachable. He pays great attention to detail. A great place for a romantic dinner, a business meeting or simply a night out with family or friends.
I admit I was shocked the first time I saw this brand-new place: it is very swank and sleek-looking for the neighborhood. The Neopolitan-style pizzas are very good and pair well with their great selection of wines. I think this establishment will flourish quite well.
