This is one Indian restaurant on the Gerrard Strip that attracts a higher percent of Indian than western diners. I take that as a good sign. The food has a very fresh, clean taste. I have eaten there about a dozen times, and highly recommend both dosas and the thali if you're new to south Indian cuisine. The thali in particular is very filling and satisfying - a circle of about 10 little bowls of various soups, curries, pickle, yogurt and dessert surrounding a mound of rice and a freshly made chapati for $8.95. The actual dishes have varied from one thali meal to the next, which is nice. Some attempt at ambience with murals of deities and depictions of various Indian art forms, but basically it's in a cavernous, though well-lit below ground-level room with lots of hard surfaces for sound to bounce off. Clean. Have had varying degrees of service from indifferent to pleasant. Have been all but ignored on several occasions when we were females only at the table - service improves if you are, or are with, a man, I'm sorry to say.
Good food, Very Good waiters, Nice altar, Didn't have my reading glasses, Wasn't sure how much i was being charged Forgot the tips as a result. Called again later in the evening. and I was told I could make it up next time. No need to pay now as it was difficult to trace the items. Will go again. If only to pay the waiters. Hope they are still working at this restaurant. Sweet guys.
