If there's any truth in advertising, then this place's name says it all. British Style features hand-cut fish and chips. Fish include pickerel, cod, halibut and haddock served with freshly cut chips. Food is affordable, in the the $6-$9 range. The health conscious will be happy to hear that owner/chef Ali Meghji has cut back on the grease (to the disappointment of Rochesterians?) in what is otherwise authentic British cooking. What I love best about this traditional fish n' chip shop is that they make each order fresh - slicing the fish, dipping in batter and then frying - no heat lamps! It takes a little longer to receive your order, but the wait is why the quality is so good. Our family has fish n' chip Fridays as a treat with coleslaw and peas. Yum.
I had a serious craving for fish and chips, but...
I had a serious craving for fish and chips, but being new to the this area, I thought i'd look on-line to see where we should try first. A short drive later, we landed at British style fish and chips. The rave reviews are well deserved! I am a french fry fiend, but for the first time I ate all my fish first. I would have to say this is the best fish and chips i've ever had. Quick, friendly service, and the food was still piping hot when we got home.
We will be back!!
